Mahindra has made a strategic decision to discontinue the five-seater versions of its popular XUV700, focusing instead on enhancing its flagship ICE SUV. Now available exclusively in six and seven-seater configurations, the starting price has been adjusted to Rs 14.49 lakh ex-showroom, India, up from the previous Rs 13.99 lakh.
The mid-spec XUV700 AX5 and AX5 S trims now come standard with seven seats, ensuring ample space for families and groups. Furthermore, both six- and seven-seat options remain available in the premium AX7L and AX7 top variants, catering to diverse customer needs. This adjustment not only streamlines the product offering but also positions Mahindra’s XUV700 as an even more attractive option for those seeking spaciousness without compromising on quality or comfort.

Mahindra Confirms: The Bold New XUV700 Facelift Arrives in 2026

Get ready for an exciting transformation with the upcoming XUV700 facelift (codenamed W616), set to launch next year. This new model will borrow design elements from Mahindra’s innovative electric vehicles, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, leading to a more dynamic and modern appearance. Anticipate sharper styling that includes connected LED headlights, a sleek new grille, and squared-off wheel cladding that gives it an edgy look. The interior is also expected to receive a significant upgrade with enhanced standard features, all while keeping the reliable mechanical setup intact. Plus, don’t forget about the Mahindra Thar facelift scheduled for a 2026 release—big things are on the horizon.
Interesting move by Mahindra! Prioritizing larger seating options might help them target the growing demand for family-oriented SUVs, but I wonder how this affects buyers who preferred the more affordable 5-seater version.
