VinFast VF6 & VF7 Gear Up to Conquer Bharat NCAP with 5-Star Safety Ambition

Inbound Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is making strategic enhancements to its models specifically for the Indian market. This year, it will debut the VinFast VF6 and VF7, the first two models assembled and launched in India. To make a significant impact as a newcomer in this competitive landscape, VinFast aims for both vehicles to achieve an impressive 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.

Both the VF6 and VF7 will come equipped with 7 airbags as standard features, ensuring top-notch safety for Indian consumers. Additionally, they will include a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite that enhances driving convenience. To address the lack of an instrument cluster in these India-specific models, a Heads-Up Display (HUD) will be incorporated, providing essential information right where drivers need it. With these thoughtful modifications tailored to local needs and preferences, VinFast sets itself up for success in India’s dynamic automotive market.

VinFast is making a strategic move by adapting to the Indian automotive market with higher ground clearance and smaller wheels. Until now, the company has primarily focused on left-hand-drive markets, including Vietnam. However, as they establish two manufacturing plants—one in India and another in Indonesia—India stands poised to be the first market where right-hand-drive models are both produced and sold. This commitment allows VinFast to tailor their vehicles specifically for Indian consumers, incorporating modifications that enhance usability and appeal in this unique market. Investing in VinFast means supporting a forward-thinking company ready to meet local needs while expanding its global footprint.

First and foremost, both the VF6 and VF7 have significantly increased their ride height compared to the left-hand-drive model, boasting an impressive ground clearance of 190mm. This enhancement, combined with the use of slightly smaller wheels and higher-profile tyres—specifically Apollo tyres for the VF7—is strategically designed to enable these EVs to navigate our roads more effectively.

The air conditioning system and storage spaces have been significantly improved, but that’s just the beginning. Numerous features have been specifically tailored for the Indian market. For instance, the VF7 now includes a wireless phone charger—something not typically available in other regions—and one-litre bottle holders in every door, which was deemed essential for Indian consumers.

Moreover, given the high demand for comfort, ventilated front seats are now part of the standard package. The air conditioner compressor has also been fine-tuned to perform optimally in India’s unique climate conditions. Addressing concerns about how a large fixed glass roof might warm up the car when parked under the sun, engineers assured us that they have taken this feedback seriously and will implement a heat shield solution specifically for India. These thoughtful adjustments clearly demonstrate our commitment to meeting local needs and enhancing customer satisfaction.

In terms of safety, we’re taking significant steps to achieve that coveted 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. We’ve made 7 airbags standard across the entire range and are offering Level 2 ADAS technology. Additionally, to minimize driver distraction, a heads-up display (HUD) will be featured specifically for the Indian market. This is particularly important since both the VF6 and VF7 lack an instrument cluster; crucial information like speed and range will be conveniently shown in the driver’s side corner of the touchscreen. With production expected to kick off as early as July and a formal market launch slated for before the end of 2025, VinFast is poised for an impactful entry into India. This is not just another vehicle release; it’s your chance to experience cutting-edge safety features that prioritize your well-being on the road.
