The Indian electric vehicle market is about to witness a new benchmark in premium mobility. MG Motor India is all set to launch the MG M9 all-electric luxury MPV on July 21, 2025. First showcased at the Auto Expo 2025, the M9 marks MG’s foray into the niche space of luxury electric MPVs, blending cutting-edge technology, opulent comfort, and a sustainable drive experience.
MG M9 Price Expectations and Rivals

The MG M9 is expected to be priced around ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as a high-end EV offering, the M9 will be retailed through MG’s exclusive Select premium retail network. In terms of rivals, it slots above the Kia Carnival (₹63.91 lakh) and well below the Toyota Vellfire (₹1.22–1.32 crore), making it an attractive proposition for luxury MPV buyers looking for an electric option.
Bold Exterior Design: Futuristic Yet Functional

One glance at the M9 and it’s clear this isn’t your average MPV. With dimensions of 5,200mm in length, 2,000mm in width, and 1,800mm in height, plus a massive 3,200mm wheelbase, the M9 commands serious road presence.
The design features a boxy yet modern silhouette, highlighted by a split headlamp setup, a wide DRL strip, and chrome detailing on the bumper. A large trapezoidal air dam adds to the sporty character. Side profiles boast Z-shaped chrome window trims, 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with self-healing Continental ContiSeal tyres, and electrically sliding rear doors for enhanced convenience.
The rear carries forward the design elegance with connected LED tail-lamps, a roof spoiler with integrated stop lamp, and generous chrome embellishments on the bumper.
Luxurious Interiors and Feature-Rich Cabin

Step inside the MG M9 and you’re greeted by a cabin that feels more like a business-class lounge than an MPV. The three-row layout features cognac brown leather and suede upholstery, creating an upmarket and plush environment. The dashboard layout is clean and minimal, led by a floating centre console that frees up space below.
At the heart of the dashboard sits a 12.23-inch infotainment touchscreen, complemented by a 7-inch digital driver’s display and a sleek two-spoke steering wheel. The entire cabin is lit up with 64-colour ambient lighting, giving it a futuristic and premium vibe.
Second Row Comfort: Boss Mode Activated
The second row is where the MG M9 truly shines. It features reclinable captain’s chairs with massage, heating, and cooling functions, fold-out ottomans, and individual entertainment screens mounted on the headrests. Occupants can control seat position and entertainment settings via touchscreen panels, while the Boss Mode lets the rear passenger move the front seat forward for maximum legroom.
The third row comfortably seats three adults and comes with AC vents and USB-A charging ports for added practicality. In terms of storage, the M9 offers 945 litres of boot space, expandable to a massive 1,720 litres with the third row folded. Additionally, there’s a handy 55-litre frunk under the bonnet.
Tech & Safety: Loaded with Smart Features

The MG M9 leaves no stone unturned when it comes to features. It offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, digital IRVM, wireless phone charging, a 13-speaker JBL audio system, cabin air filter, and even Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.
In terms of safety, the M9 is equally impressive. It comes with Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, ESP, and disc brakes at both ends. It has even achieved 5-star safety ratings from both Euro NCAP and Australian NCAP, making it one of the safest MPVs in its segment.
MG M9 Battery, Motor, and Range

Powering the M9 is a 90kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, known for its higher energy density compared to traditional LFP batteries. This feeds a front-mounted electric motor that produces 245hp and 350Nm of torque, ensuring brisk performance despite the M9’s large footprint.
MG claims the M9 can deliver an impressive range of 548km (internal testing). While MIDC figures are yet to be confirmed, this range positions the M9 as one of the longest-range electric MPVs in India. For charging, it supports 160kW DC fast charging (0-100% in 90 minutes) and 11kW AC charging (full charge in 10 hours), making it convenient for daily and long-distance usage.
The premium pricing of the M9 suggests MG is clearly targeting a niche luxury audience. I’m really curious to see how Indian consumers will respond to an all-electric MPV at this price point, especially with EV infrastructure still catching up in many cities.
