This statement confirms our exclusive report from last April that <strong><a href=https:\/\/www.autocarindia.com\/car-news\/renault-nissan-mulling-creta-ev-rival-entry-level-a-segment-ev-likely-dropped-431370>plans for a Duster-based EV<\/a><\/strong> were afoot.<\/p><div class=\"padding_top_5 padding_bottom_5\"><center><div id=gpt-mpu1-ad-mobile class=\"ad-mod-section hidden-ad\"><\/div><\/center><\/div><ol><li><strong>Based on the same EV-specific platform as the Renault 5<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Duster EV likely to get AWD option<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Duster EV will be showcased after the 2027 Sandero EV<\/strong><\/li><\/ol><h2><span style=color:#ff0000><strong>New Duster EV platform details<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><h3><strong>Will be underpinned by Renault&rsquo;s CMF-BEV platform.<\/strong><\/h3><div class=ArticleImage><img decoding=\"async\" loading=lazy alt=\"Renault CMF EV platform\" src=\"https:\/\/img.autocarindia.com\/News\/Renault-CMF-platform.jpg?w=700&amp;c=0\" style=border-width:0 title=\"Renault CMF EV platform\"><\/div><p class=new-pare-p>As ICE cars in the UK and European markets are scheduled to be phased out by 2035, Dacia is working at readying its all-electric line-up. At the moment, the brand&rsquo;s only electric car is the Spring EV, but plans are in place to have an EV powertrain option for all models, including the <a href=https:\/\/www.autocarindia.com\/cars\/renault\/bigster><strong>Bigster<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p><p class=new-pare-p>The Duster EV will use the same EV-specific CMF-BEV platform that underpins the <a href=https:\/\/www.autocarindia.com\/car-news\/production-spec-renault-5-ev-revealed-at-geneva-motor-show-430795><strong>Renault 5<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DBGlsz9or0J\/\"><strong>4 crossover<\/strong><\/a>. This architecture, which is essentially an EV-adapted version of the current, petrol-powered Duster&rsquo;s CMF-B platform, will be the basis for all of Dacia&rsquo;s upcoming electric cars.<\/p><h3><strong>CMF-BEV platform can house a motor on the front and rear axles<\/strong><\/h3><div class=ArticleImage><img decoding=\"async\" loading=lazy alt=\"Renault 4 Savane 4x4 Concept logo\" src=\"https:\/\/img.autocarindia.com\/News\/Renault-4 Savane-4x4-Concept-logo.jpg?w=700&amp;c=0\" style=border-width:0 title=\"Renault 4 Savane 4x4 Concept logo\"><\/div><p class=new-pare-p>As all the current cars that use the CMF-BEV platform are front-wheel drive, there was uncertainty whether the architecture could house a second motor at the rear. However, Renault recently revealed a 4&#215;4 concept of the 4 crossover &ndash; a preview of an imminent production version &ndash; that adds a driven rear axle to enhance the crossover&rsquo;s off-roading abilities. This means that the CMF-BEV can house a second motor on the rear axle, indicating that the Duster EV is likely to have a 4&#215;4 variant.<\/p><h2><span style=color:#ff0000><strong>Renault Duster EV India launch details<\/strong><\/span><\/h2><h3><strong>Heavy localisation was planned for India-spec Duster EV.<\/strong><\/h3><p class=new-pare-p>The Duster is set to be the second Dacia model, from its current line-up, to gain an EV. The first will be the Sandero hatchback, which will get an EV option with the next-gen model, due in 2027.<\/p><p class=new-pare-p>The <strong><a href=https:\/\/www.autocarindia.com\/car-news\/renault-kiger-triber-facelifts-duster-launch-timeline-revealed-434051>new Duster is coming to India in early 2026<\/a><\/strong> and we have stated that a <strong><a href=https:\/\/www.autocarindia.com\/car-news\/renault-duster-bigster-hybrid-launch-within-12-months-of-petrol-model-435669>hybrid version will arrive within 12 months<\/a><\/strong> of the petrol model. We had reported last year that Renault had already begun work on a Duster EV for our market. At the time, the Renault-Nissan alliance had started engaging with home-grown cell and battery manufacturers to ensure an extremely accessible price point. Whether plans for the Duster EV for India come to fruition is yet to be seen. That the\u00a0Renault Duster\u00a0EV, which will be sold under the Dacia brand in European markets, \u201cwill come in time\u201d was stated by Dacia CEO Denis Le Vot. This statement confirms our exclusive report from last April that\u00a0plans for a Duster-based EV\u00a0were afoot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Based on the same EV-specific platform as the Renault 5<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Duster EV likely to get AWD option<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Duster EV will be showcased after the 2027 Sandero EV<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New Duster EV platform details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Will be underpinned by Renault\u2019s CMF-BEV platform.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As ICE cars in the UK and European markets are scheduled to be phased out by 2035, Dacia is working at readying its all-electric line-up. At the moment, the brand\u2019s only electric car is the Spring EV, but plans are in place to have an EV powertrain option for all models, including the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocarindia.com\/cars\/renault\/bigster\"><strong>Bigster<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Duster EV will use the same EV-specific CMF-BEV platform that underpins the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocarindia.com\/car-news\/production-spec-renault-5-ev-revealed-at-geneva-motor-show-430795\"><strong>Renault 5<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DBGlsz9or0J\/\"><strong>4 crossover<\/strong><\/a>. This architecture, which is essentially an EV-adapted version of the current, petrol-powered Duster\u2019s CMF-B platform, will be the basis for all of Dacia\u2019s upcoming electric cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>CMF-BEV platform can house a motor on the front and rear axles<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As all the current cars that use the CMF-BEV platform are front-wheel drive, there was uncertainty whether the architecture could house a second motor at the rear. However, Renault recently revealed a 4x4 concept of the 4 crossover \u2013 a preview of an imminent production version \u2013 that adds a driven rear axle to enhance the crossover\u2019s off-roading abilities. This means that the CMF-BEV can house a second motor on the rear axle, indicating that the Duster EV is likely to have a 4x4 variant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Renault Duster EV India launch details<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Heavy localisation was planned for India-spec Duster EV.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Duster is set to be the second Dacia model, from its current line-up, to gain an EV. The first will be the Sandero hatchback, which will get an EV option with the next-gen model, due in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0new Duster is coming to India in early 2026\u00a0and we have stated that a\u00a0hybrid version will arrive within 12 months\u00a0of the petrol model. We had reported last year that Renault had already begun work on a Duster EV for our market. At the time, the Renault-Nissan alliance had started engaging with home-grown cell and battery manufacturers to ensure an extremely accessible price point. Whether plans for the Duster EV for India come to fruition is yet to be seen.
