Tata Motors is gearing up to expand its petrol engine lineup with an all-new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine, which is set to power several of its upcoming models including the much-anticipated Tata Sierra. This move aims to offer customers more accessible price points and wider engine choices across the brand\u2019s growing SUV portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Tata\u2019s powerful 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine showcased at Auto Expo 2023 is still in the works, the brand is moving forward with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine that will serve as a more affordable option for new models. According to sources, Tata is taking its time to fine-tune the turbocharged motor before launch, ensuring it meets performance and efficiency expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the meantime, this newly developed NA petrol engine is likely a derivative of the upcoming DI turbo engine and will find its way into entry-level Sierra variants. This strategic move will help Tata price the Sierra more competitively against segment leaders like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara, all of which offer a 1.5-litre NA petrol option for base trims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
