Italian marque Maserati unveiled a new derivative of its MC20 supercar, the MCPura, at this year\u2019s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The changes have been made specifically to the exterior and interior design, materials, and finishes, with the mechanicals remaining unchanged. That is to say that the MCPura continues with the 630hp V6 Nettuno engine, a carbon fibre monocoque and butterfly doors. Like the MC20, the MCPura will also be available in coupe and convertible forms, with the latter called the MCPura Cielo (meaning \u2018sky\u2019 in Italian).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design changes more agressive and improve aerodynamics<\/strong> Outside, the changes are to the car\u2019s lower section, with the \u201cshark nose\u201d modified to give it an even more accentuated appearance. The front and rear bumpers take cues from the GT2 Stradale, and there\u2019s a new oversized spoiler as an optional extra. Given that the lower fascia of the MC20 significantly contributed to its aero work, Maserati says the MCPura\u2019s revamped lower section improves its aerodynamic performance as well, though it did not disclose numeric improvements. According to Maserati, over 2,000 man-hours of wind tunnel work and over 1,000 fluid dynamics simulations (computational fluid dynamics, CFD) were undertaken with long-standing race car firm Dallara to fine-tune the MCPura\u2019s aerodynamic efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gets new unique AI Aqua Rainbow exterior finish<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maserati says there will be a vivid colour palette specifically designed for the car, and at Goodwood, the brand has presented the MCPura in what it calls AI Aqua Rainbow, finished in matte for the coupe and glossy for the MCPura Cielo. The blue shade changes colour in the sun to produce a rainbow-like effect, much like how a prism breaks down white light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The brand\u2019s Trident logo on the grille, C-pillar, rims and insignia on both sides of the car are finished in magenta colour with blue mica. Interestingly, and in a nice contrast to the body finishes, the MCPura\u2019s details are glossy on the coupe version and matte on the convertible. Inside, the Alcantara seats are laser-etched to create a 3D effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maserati open to other \u2018Pura\u2019 versions<\/strong> <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
In response to a question from Autocar India<\/em> at the digital unveil, Giovanni Perosino, Maserati\u2019s chief marketing officer, said that the brand is open to doing Pura versions of other models in its portfolio. \u201cPura is a name, but it\u2019s bigger than that, too. Pura is a concept that\u2019s pure in all aspects, even design. So yes, it could be enlarged to other models, and we are open to applying the Pura concept to other car lines in Maserati.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
