The Toyota Hilux is gearing up for a significant refresh later this year, and you won\u2019t want to miss it. This tough pickup, renowned for its reliability and performance, has been seen undergoing exciting updates in Thailand, where it will first hit the market. According to sources the revamped model may be introduced under the name \u201cHilux Travo\u201d. Given that the current generation of the Hilux has been on the roads since 2015, this update is well overdue. Expect a complete exterior and interior makeover that will elevate both style and functionality. Additionally, most markets can look forward to updated diesel engines featuring MHEV technology making this iconic truck even more efficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current-Gen Toyota Hilux to feature Dramatic Cosmetic Updates.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The latest generation of Hilux made its global debut in 2015. Over the years, Toyota has rolled out several minor updates, but recent sources indicate that this upcoming model is set for a much more significant overhaul. The spy shots reveal an exciting fresh design for the Hilux that stands out from previous models. The upright nose and extremely flat bonnet create a bold presence, dividing the front into four distinct elements. The headlamps, located at the corners, are sleek and slimmer compared to the current version, seamlessly integrating with the top of the grille. There\u2019s strong possibility that Toyota will opt for text branding in place of their logo between the headlamps, similar to what we see on the other robust models like the Tacoma, Tundra, and Land Cruiser Prado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grille itself features a rectangular shape adorned with various styling options such as honeycomb patterns or slats according to different variants. While part of the area below the headlamps is still under wraps, there\u2019s speculation around whether it could incorporate an additional set of headlamps or high mounted fog lamp housings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, beneath the grille are air intake inlets divided into upper and lower sections based on variant specifications. Ultimately, this revamped Hilux appears poised to deliver a muscular and aggressive appearance than before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We can confidently anticipate that Toyota will be rolling out mild hybrid technology across all diesel variants in most markets. Currently, the Hilux MHEV is available in select countries, showcasing Toyota\u2019s commitment to innovation. However, it remains uncertain whether strong hybrid systems will be introduced for the petrol versions. These features are already featured in models like the Tacoma and Tundra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources information suggests that the existing IMV platform will continue to support both the Hilux and likely an extensively updated Fortuner on its way. This indicates a decision not to transition to the more advanced TNGA-F ladder frame architecture used by the vehicles such as the Land Cruiser Prado, Tundra, and Tacoma. Instead, we can expect Toyota to enhance the Hilux\u2019s current 4WD technology with this new model.
