Maserati MCPura Unveiled at Goodwood: A Stunning Evolution of the MC20 Supercar

Maserati has officially taken the wraps off the MCPura, a bold new iteration of its celebrated MC20 supercar, at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed. While the performance specs remain unchanged, the MCPura brings a dramatic update to design, materials, and finishes, ushering in a fresh and more expressive chapter for Maserati’s modern lineup.

The MCPura continues to be powered by the acclaimed 630hp, twin-turbo V6 Nettuno engine, and retains its:

  • Lightweight carbon-fibre monocoque chassis
  • Signature butterfly doors
  • Rear-wheel-drive configuration

Like the MC20, the MCPura will be offered in two versions:

  • MCPura Coupe
  • MCPura Cielo (Convertible) – ‘Cielo’ means sky in Italian.

Exterior Updates: Sharper, More Aerodynamic

Maserati has refined the MCPura’s lower front fascia, adding a more pronounced “shark nose” profile. New front and rear bumpers draw inspiration from the GT2 Stradale race car, and buyers can optionally add an oversized rear spoiler for enhanced visual drama and downforce.

Aerodynamically, Maserati claims significant improvements, though exact figures remain undisclosed. Notably:

  • 2,000+ hours of wind tunnel testing
  • 1,000+ CFD simulations
  • Developed in collaboration with Dallara, Maserati’s long-time racing partner

Colour & Finish: Futuristic Design Meets AI-Inspired Paint

One of the most striking aspects of the MCPura is its new AI Aqua Rainbow paint finish:

  • Appears blue in shade, but changes hue in sunlight like a prism effect
  • Matte finish for the coupe, and glossy finish for the MCPura Cielo (convertible)
  • Accented with magenta Trident logos and blue mica detailing on grille, C-pillars, rims, and insignia

Inside, Maserati takes things further with:

  • Laser-etched Alcantara seats, giving off a 3D depth effect
  • Matte or glossy finishes for interior detailing (varies between coupe and convertible)

This refined interior combines artistic detail with Maserati’s typical sporty sophistication.

Future of ‘Pura’ Series: More to Come?

At the digital unveiling, Maserati’s Chief Marketing Officer, Giovanni Perosino, hinted that the ‘Pura’ design philosophy could expand to other Maserati models.

“Pura is a name, but it’s also a concept—pure in form and essence. We are open to applying it across more models in the future.” This signals Maserati’s intent to evolve ‘Pura’ into a potential sub-brand or design language across its upcoming performance and luxury cars.
