Tata Motors has taken a major step toward boosting consumer confidence in its electric vehicles. The Nexon EV 45 and the newly launched Curvv EV now come with a 15-year/unlimited kilometre battery warranty as standard—what Tata is calling a “lifetime battery warranty.”

Previously, the battery packs of the Nexon EV and Curvv EV were covered under an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km warranty. Now, Tata is nearly doubling the coverage with a 15-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, valid from the date of registration. This move aims to make long-term EV ownership more appealing and reduce concerns around battery longevity.

Note: The extended warranty applies only to first owners of the Nexon EV 45 and Curvv EV. Pre-owned or second-hand buyers will not be eligible.

  1. It’s interesting that the 15-year battery warranty only applies to the first owner. I wonder how that might impact the resale value of these EVs in the future—especially as the used EV market begins to grow in India.
